It is important that you have these basic essential personal hygiene items in your bug out bag. Having these basic items can make life a tad easier when the poop hits the fan. Ensure than each member of your family has a personal hygiene kit stored in a waterproof pouch in their Bug Out Bag.

Below are some items that you should include in your kit:

  • Small soap bar (save one from your next hotel visit)
  • Shampoo (you can get those little bottles from your local supermarket, airlines or hotels)
  • Cotton buds (can be used as emergency tinder if required)
  • Floss (can be used as fishing line)
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Mirror (can be used for signalling)
  • Natural Bees’ Wax Lip Gloss (can be used for increasing the burn time of tinder)
  • Contact Lenses and cleaning accessories (if you use them)
  • Toilet paper (never know when you’re gonna need that; can be used as emergency tinder also; don’t go anywhere without a good supply of this stuff)
  • Antibacterial wipes (if you ever have to use a public toilet these will help you tackle the germs… ‘nuff said)
  • Flushable toilet wipes (backup for toilet paper)
  • Hand sanitiser (when you touch something nasty and you don’t have access to running water)
  • Feminine hygiene products (if you’re a female that is; and… and by the way, tampons can be used as emergency tinder too)
  • Nail clipper (believe it or not the file can be sharpened on just about any rock and used as a makeshift blade in a survival situation)
  • Scissors (wide range of uses)
  • Tweezers (great for removing ticks and splinters)

Sounds like most of these hygiene items have practical uses in a survival situation – great isn’t it? Ok, we’ve just shown you how to put together your very own Emergency Personal Hygiene Kit. Until next time, “Be Prepared. Stay Alive.”
